The second most significant week in recruiting season has finally been completed after the conclusion of the US Army All-American game where the top high school recruits come together to showcase their talent, as well as they use it as a platform to announce where they’ll be attending school for the next 3-4 years of their football career.
Georgia had recruits playing in both games, the Under Armor All-American and US Army All-American game. In both, Georgia gained the commitment of a five-star recruit. At halftime of the Under Armor All-American game five-star athlete from Desert Pines, Las Vegas Darnell Washington announced where he’d be taking his elite talents for the next few years of his college career. Washington is a 6’7 260-pound tight end who plays like a receiver. He will have a chance to revolutionize the tight end position in Georgia. Athens has lost Eli Wolf, and Charlie Woerner has both graduated and is going to have an attempt at the NFL. When talking about why he decided to commit to Georgia, he said this, “I think I can play and help out a lot.” A big statement from a high school recruit who hasn’t played at the college level before. If anyone was able to say that, it would be Washington as he has some unmatched skills that will make him a dangerous weapon for the Bulldogs. Georgia also gained the commitment and signing of the number one cornerback in the 2020 class. Kelee Ringo announced Saturday in the fourth quarter of the Army All-American game that he signed with Georgia back in December during the Early Signing Period. Still, he kept it silent with the intent of announcing it at the game. Ringo will be a significant addition to an already talented Georgia secondary where he will have a chance to learn from Kirby Smart and Charlton Warren, as both men are hands-on coaches on that side of the ball. The decision of Eric Stokes lies in the balance as he is eligible to declare for the NFL Draft if he so chooses to do so. Stokes has been a lockdown cornerback for Georgia ever since he burst into the starting lineup for Georgia. Ringo possesses some of those same abilities as he has an advantage over any opponent with his elite track speed. He has used that to develop into a lockdown corner for Saguaro High School. The commitments of these two five stars help Georgia’s case as they pursue the number one recruiting class for the 2020 recruiting class. Both these great recruits have a chance to make a massive impact in between the hedges for Georgia.
