Last week it was announced that former five-star edge rusher from the 2018 class, Brenton Cox was dismissed from the Georgia program after a mutual agreement with Coach Kirby Smart.
Cox, the former Ohio State commit reopened his commitment and ended up signing with Georgia were he appeared in 13 games for the Dawgs where he totaled 20 tackles, two for a loss, and a sack. Cox started his first game as a Dawg in the Sugar Bowl. Brenton was one of six players arrested over offseason for Georgia over a misdemeanor charge. It was reported by a maintenance worker that cannabis was found in Brenton Cox's dorm, who roomed with sophomore Robert Beal. Both men were charged with possession of marijuana, and later on, both have been dismissed. Brenton Cox entered the transfer portal last week and after a visit to the University of Florida, Cox has enrolled at the university and has already practiced with Florida. But he will need a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility if he wants to play this season. If not granted the waiver then he would have to sit out and likely redshirt. It is unlikely he will be granted immediate eligibility because of the offseason charges that were brought against him.
